Weekly Open Studio Hours at Creativity Studio

The Creativity Studio at 318 Commons Basement Floor Room 7 is open for all UMR students, staff, and faculty during the weekly Open Studio on Thursdays, 5:30 - 8:30 pm. Review the Schedule & Guidelines. 

Instructions & Guidelines:

Art Supplies: You are welcome to use the art supplies found on the open shelving unit in the room or feel free to bring your own, including ongoing art projects to work on.  (The supplies on the shelves covered by the curtain are reserved for a course.)  If you want to paint and need water, please use the sink in the bathroom.  The studio does not have a sink. 

Art Project: The Creativity Studio invites you to explore 1) Graffiti Name project, 2) Origami installation, 3) Imagination Eye Clay 4) Beads Who You Are project, or 5) anything you want to make!  

What should you do with your artwork? 
You are welcome to take it with you or display it in the studio.  If you decide to display it, please add your item in the designated space. 

Creativity Studio Water Painting Guide

• If water is needed during the Open Studio hours, students will use the bathroom sinks to fill their own plastic cups.
• If an instructor or staff member is holding a creativity session that requires water, please arrive one hour early in order to set-up.  If an instructor has a 318 Commons electronic fob, they will be able to access sinks in the Lab Prep Room located across the hall. Use the sinks to fill up plastic cups and distribute them to each workspace. After completing the session, collect the water in a bucket and dump it into the sink in the lab across the hall. What should you do with your artwork? 
You are welcome to take it with you or display it in the studio.  If you decide to display it, please add your item in the designated space. 

If you want to leave your work to finish drying, be sure to label your work and place it on the drying section. The studio cannot be responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.

Cleaning up: We appreciate your attention to keeping the studio clean.  Please clean and put away the equipment you used back in the open studio shelf.
